FARMINGTON SHINING STARS |
|
FARMINGTON SHINING STARS is for girls in the 1st through 12th grade. We offer age and skill appropriate classes that are designed to teach basic level skills to children of all abilities. Our non-competitive classes have an 8:1 ratio and are divided into two age levels: 1st—3rd grade and 4th—8th grade (though our competitive levels go through 12th grade). This allows us to make age and size appropriate lesson plans. We also separate the classes by skill level. The levels are: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Mini Mites, Silver Stars (Competitive- Xcel Silver- Gold) and Rising Stars (Competitive Xcel Gold- Diamond). |

|
Class Format
The classes range from 1 hour-4 hours long and meet once a week. The four events that the girls will be working on are Floor (tumbling), Uneven Parallel Bars, Balance Beam, and Vault. We also use trampolines and other equipment, which will increase strength and skill development. We will work on level appropriate skills on each event with the emphasis on doing the skill SAFELY, CORRECTLY,
AND CELEBRATING even the smallest of ACCOMPLISHMENTS. Gymnasts are placed into the skill level that will best challenge them. They will advance to the next level once the skill requirements to move are met. Our Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions are 12 weeks long, and our Summer Program is pay per class. |
|
Apparel
The girls should wear leotards, no jewelry, and bare feet. We also ask that they wear their hair back in a ponytail or in a braid(s). The girls can wear any type of leotard and in any color. They may wear shorts over their leotards as long as they are athletic shorts with an elastic waist band. Pants, buttons and zippers are not permitted. |

Viewing
Parents are welcome to stay and watch in our large lobby area, which looks out into the gym. We just ask that parents do not yell out to their kids while they are working out in the gym, as it is very distracting to your child and is just not safe. Also, please note that because of SAFETY REASONS, PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN

If you have a boy who is looking for recreational gymnastics, one who simply has endless amounts of energy to burn or one that would like to build flexibility and strength in the off season from other sports, this is the program for you! This program is offered to boys in 1st-6th grades. The classes have an 8:1 ratio and concentrate on building proper gymnastics basics on the Floor Exercise, Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars, and Horizontal Bars, while participating in high energy classes, designed to send them home tired! There is a strong emphasis placed on conditioning and strength building, as that is the basis for several of the USAG Men’s Gymnastics skills. Boys in our program will learn the importance of combining goal setting & self-discipline with fun & enthusiasm. Flip, Run, Jump and to have FUN !! |
